FLM+D Field Trip No. 1 : Milam House by Paul Rudolph

A Brief History

Florida Modernism and Design was born out of a place making project in Little River. Johnny Laderer and Lina Hargrett (The Empty Apartment) got together to plan a way to bring the Paul Rudolph's Walker Guest House replica from Sarasota to Miami. While the effort to move it hasn't been fruitful, the realization that awareness needed to be raised about Florida's regional modernism spurred an even greater initiative. Through panel discussions, content curation and creation, and field trips we are dedicated to creating excitement around a more than ever relevant topic. Regional modernism as it relates to Florida is the foundation for a resilient, sustainable, and most importantly inspired and healthy state.
